Construction Tools As Home Cleaning Products: Yes We Can!

When most people think of construction tools, they think of tools that work with wood, plastics or perhaps metals. For the vast majority of people, the last thing that comes to mind is home cleaning products. However, when it comes to difficult cleaning tasks many common construction tools can be used to finish a job in minutes instead of taking hours to do it.

The Common Palm Sander
You can pick up a palm sander at your local warehouse or hardware store for as little as $20. A tool that was often left ignored is now a favorite among homeowners. This is a great tool for sanding and painting jobs around the home or business. A palm sander is light, fits easily into one hand and is dependable when it comes to sanding wood, metal or plastic.
As far as home cleaning products are concerned, a palm sander turns out to be one of the best, and for all the same reasons. Just set it into a scrubbing pad, add a little soap and scouring powder and watch it tear through some of the most difficult built-up grime and grease in ovens, on barbecues and cement driveways. A palm sander also works great for polishing jobs.

A Reciprocating Saw for Difficult Tasks
A reciprocating saw, more commonly known as a saws-all costs more than a palm sander but it also comes in handy on more difficult caked cleaning projects around the home and business. Be careful when using a reciprocating saw because while a palm sander is relatively safe, a reciprocating saw can cause a nasty cut if you aren't careful. The best way to get protected is to wear safety gloves and goggles.
There's a broad range of blade types available for reciprocating saws and the best ones to use for home cleaning products are the blades with larger cutting teeth. Using a reciprocating saw with one of these types of blades you can slice right through 'pretty much anything' including concrete splatters, spilled glue and unsightly paint drips.

A Portable Propane Torch
Small portable propane torches have many uses as home cleaning products but most people are not aware of its uses. People also tend to have an inherent fear of small portable propane torches. In fact, this tool is very safe to use. You can start a portable propane torch very quickly. It would ignite and extinguish automatically with a touch of the trigger.

These torches reach temperatures of over 1000°, so with this amount of heat available it's not hard to imagine all the home cleaning solutions possible. Forget about scrubbing because with a torch like this you can simply burn off even the most difficult and otherwise time-consuming grease and grime. Things like barbecue grills for instance can be cleaned in a snap because you don't even have to touch them with your hands when you use this tool.

An Air Compressor and Blower
Another big surprise on this list of home cleaning products from common construction tools is the common compressor. Compressed air is great for cleaning out hard to reach nooks and crannies. These tools are super affordable that you can find it at your local hardware store. Keep in mind that you will also need at least 50 feet of hose and a handy spray nozzle to direct the air.
Once you get your hose and spray nozzle hooked up, you'll be amazed at all the handy cleaning tasks you can perform with it. Cobwebs would be easy to eliminate and dusting jobs can become a simple task. For more delicate cleaning projects such as home appliances and computers, clean dry compressed air turns out to be the perfect solution.

Power Tool Safety
If you think all these tips sound so easy and sensible, you must know that it does come with a catch. The catch is that any construction power tool has its own risks and dangers. You should be aware of these and learn how to properly use these tools. A painful cut, abrasion, bruise or burn could just be one of the things you may experience if you are not careful enough.

On the safe side, pick up a pair of safety goggles and sturdy gloves whenever you use your power tools. Also read the instructions that come with them and follow all safety recommendations. Lastly, make sure that anytime you use an electric power tool that you are wearing dry rubber sole shoes to prevent electrical shock. If you are hesitant to buy then rent the above listed power tools first.
